So his plane left at 12 noon, but if you know my father, you know that he never arrives anywhere accidentally late. To make sure we got to the Tupelo, Mississippi airport on time, we left Hamilton a little before 10. The drive was good conversation and filled with many laughs. When we arrived at the airport, parked, and walked in with him I was okay, but when it was time for him to go through customs, I lost it. Mucho tears & sadness. But I keep telling myself this is the Lord's will and God is going to take care of him just like if he were still here in Hamilton with us.
Once we left the airport, I was still a bit sad, but I had Scott and he's a horrible person to be mopey around because he's so funny! I love my husband.

On the way back through the city we found an adorable bookstore. And I got to stock up on some more missions books while Scott found a 6inch thick book called The Volume Library published in 1951 which contains a paragraph or two about everything ever. Literally! (: Scott harnessing the amazing thrifter abilities he inherited from his mother, also found a four volume collection called Bulter's Lives of the Saints. This, my friends, is going to be very handy! And also beautiful on a shelf! This collection was originally put together in the 1700's but it was revised in the late 1920's and we just so happened to find this 1980's reprint edition. It lists the lives/deaths of the saints, martyrs, and many others from as far back as the first century.
In fact, the first man it speaks of is St. Condordius who was "beaten with clubs, stretched with a rack, but in the height of his torments he cheerfully sang, "Glory be to thee, Lord Jesus!" Three days after, two soldiers were sent to behead him in the dungeon, unless he would offer sacrifice to an idol. The saint showed his indignation by spitting upon the idol, upon which one of the soldiers struck off his head."
Obviously, these books are going to become my favorites.

After we left the book shop, we headed to downtown Tupelo to one of the prettiest and vintage-y music stores ever. Our favorite, Main Street Vintage Music. This place does mostly repairs on instruments, but their small corner building store is full of antique guitars, basses, amps, and drums.
It even houses a beautiful cat. (Yes, she lives in the two story shop!)
I suppose that's the main reason it's our favorite music store. Because Scott can spend endless amounts of time in here without me wanting to leave, after all, I have the cat to keep me company!

We walked through the mall and saw a dear friend, Missy. And Scott bought me a cute dress from AE. He also bought me a few other pieces from Charlotte Russe and then we ate Chick-fil-A and he shopped the tool stores some. Oh!, and we ran into my dad's best friend and pastor who we got to converse with about my dad's departure, church, and horses. It was good getting to talk to him. I'm not sure if it was because I'm usually around him along with my dad or what, but something about talking to him made me perk up.

Scott and I then headed to Barnes and Noble where we split an extremely sweet salted caramel hot chocolate and sat in the cafe while reading magazines. Scott read a guitar issue, and I'm going to publicly confess (over the internet) of reading a Jennifer Anniston interview in Vogue. I like her though, as bad as that may be.

All of this took place on Friday, and it's now Sunday afternoon. I've been soaking in the goodness of Friday of this time. Jesus turned a horribly dreaded morning around and made it a perfect day-date that we would have under any other circumstances, never gotten.
and it just so happened to be the September 17th! Our 11th month anniversary. Yes, next month will be our first official year as a married couple and it has been amazing!

Just a prime example of how God delites in the little things of our lives, the things we think He's too big & busy to notice.
He's so good to us!
